CONGRATULATIONS! LEE ALAN

*****

At this time, Motor City Radio Flashbacks would like to extend our congratulations and best wishes to a Detroit radio legend, Lee Alan.

For those not fully aware, Lee Alan recently announced on his Facebook page he will be leaving his hometown Detroit — “for good” — relocating outside of Michigan (for the very first time) for a warmer location, somewhere, in the south.

And so at this time we say, THANK YOU, Lee Alan. For those special radio moments and wonderful memories you shared with us on Detroit radio “back in the ’60s” (and in the 1970s), “fun radio” as we remembered them on the dial — long time ago. 🙂

You may be leaving us. But remember always Detroit will hold a special place for you, here, in its heart. Always

  1. Welllll… we did have fun didn’t we. My thanks to Jim for posting this….and to Jim Hampton for providing the audio track from long ago…. Blessings to all. Lee Alan “On The Horn”

    1. Lee Alan (and Jimmy Hampton), thank you so kindly. It is always a thrill whenever we can feature new material on WXYZ. I am always hoping to find more WXYZ charts, audio, anything new on WXYZ, other than what we are able to produce from our own archives. Lee, we are truly thankful you made the Detroit Sound what it was to so many of us then, and what it is to so many of us — still loved today — remembered in our hearts. Wonderful Detroit radio times! I am delighted to inform you I am planning on creating a new page showcasing the various WXYZ jingles from a file I have, sometime this year. It will be a new page which will comprise of 200 WXYZ jingles spanning three decades, the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. Soon to be archived here. Lee, if you would ever consider donating anything you wish on WXYZ, materials you hold or may consider having archived, rest assure you can find a special home here, anytime.
