I came by JAZZ with my Mother’s 45rpm JAZZ copy of Dave Brubeck’s “Take Five” and JAZZ clips I heard. on T.V. shows: M-Squad and Peter Gunn respectively.
In 1963, a beloved friend and mentor introduced me to Jim Rockwell , WABX.
He was JAZZ ; he set the mood with his voice and comments.
“These are records . This is JAZZ.” This is how Jim Rockwell began and ended his show.
In my opinion, there were three great JAZZ PURISTS,AMBASSADORS during the 1960s:
ED LOVE-WCHD FM ; Jack Surrell–WJLB FM; JIM ROCKWELL–WABX FM.
