Add as well the #9 record, by Edwin Starr (Ric-Tic) and that will total 11 overall Detroit records having been tabulated for the chart — over one quarter listed overall!

NOTES: In the R&B Top 50 listing, you will find there are eight (8) Detroit Motown singles and note as well a single by Detroit’s own Parliaments on the Revilot Records label.
In the R&B top 30 LP’s, marking the charts this week are seven Motown names and groups having comprised the list. It bears noting as well, Detroit’s Aretha Franklin’s second LP on the Atlantic label is positioned in the top 5, holding strong in sales at 16 weeks on the chart. Franklin’s debut LP, positioned at #26 for two weeks, still holds strong at 36 weeks on the Billboard R&B LPs survey.
The hottest soul LP in America on this date in 1967, you will note is in the Top 10. Nearly a year on the soul charts, The Temptations’ Greatest Hits holds an astounding 52 weeks listing overall in the Top Selling R&B LPs.

NOTES: In the R&B top 40 listing, you will find there are eight (8) Detroit Motown singles and note as well a single by Detroit’s own Edwin Starr on the Ric-Tic label. Motown? In a sense, it is. The Motown house band — Funk Brothers — they incorporated their Motown brand, having backed Starr’s hottest Ric-Tic single to date, “Agent 00-Soul.”
Also, the Rolling Stones made the R&B charts as well, with their Billboard pop charted #1 hit, “Satisfaction”, having climbed to #19.
In the R&B top 10 LP’s, four Motown names and groups comprised the list. And finally, it bears noting Billy Preston, a (little-known) Vee Jay artist at the time, his album hits #5.
In the Top R&B DJ ‘Pick of the Week’ bracket, WCHB Bill Williams selected his two soul “up-and coming” singles. By the Radiants and by Jimmy Williams.
