A MCRFB NOTE
___
MCRFB.COM was delighted having recently heard from Diane Steinberg Lewis, daughter of the renown, legendary Detroit “soul radio” broadcaster and personality, the late Martha Jean “The Queen.” Today’s exclusive (Detroit Radio Back-Pages) 1975 Detroit Magazine article feature hereby is presented to her, Diane Steinberg Lewis, and her family, in dedication to the memory of Martha Jean Steinberg.
Motor City Radio Flashbacks remembers. “The Queen.”
Thank you so much for posting this magazine article again. I have not seen this in years. It reminded me of why her contribution to the Spirit of Detroit was so important. She broke through glass clings and encouraged others to do it every single day on her radio show and in her ministry. I miss her insights her advice, her consistent and steady shoulder to lean on and suspect many feel the same. I’ll say this…much of what Detroit has gone through since her passing in 2000, may have had a much different outcome. Her vision for Detroit is not lost on its troubled times. We have so much to be proud of. I’m holding up a light for you, “D”. The Queen still has a lot say and the best is yet to come. We’ll be “Speaking of The Queen from Memphis to Motown” for years to come.
