Another Big 8 Radio production. An exclusive CKLW audio presentation. Brought to you by Charlie O’Brien and Big 8 Radio. 🙂
A great job producing this “on demand” soundtrack. The “Summer of Love” was part of 1967 when I met my future wife and while The Big 8 was dominating Motor City radio, 79 WQXI dominated rock n roll radio in Atlanta, GA where I lived for three years. I remember well when Bob Todd left Quixie and jocked for a short time at The Big 8. What a deal it was for me to visit my home town in Michigan and hear Bob Todd at the 50,000 watt blowtorch – CKLW. A production, it was, when Bob left CK and was welcomed back to WQXI along with his pet frog Gorf. To this day I miss the Drake sound and format of The Big 8 and The Big 8 jocks! It and they are gone save for these airchecks. Those influences steered me into radio for a large part of my life from Atlanta to Grand Rapids, MI to Peoria, Il playing the hits along the way where I’m retired with my wonderful partner of over half a century (whoa). I still dig out my collection of airchecks of jocks from markets everywhere and sing along to those Drake jingles!!! You can take the boy out of the studio but you can’t the studio out of the boy. THANK YOU!!!
