UPDATED (11-8-2013): From the ‘ALL ACCESS Music Group’ website, more information regarding Don Phillips’ passing, can be found here.
Don and I worked together at WOMC, he was a true professional ,kind, and funny man! Being the new kid on the block was easier with Dons insights.
He will be missed!
Back in mid 70’s he was a professional DJ at the Connection lounge. Best known for his saying at the end of the night “Thanks for the memories”. Truly a great guy and will be missed.
So sorry to hear about Don’s passing. He and I were great friend’s at Garden City East High School. I have great memories of tooling around with “The Mighty Korz” (as he called himself back then) In his Ford Falcon and fearing for my life while he did donuts in the school parking lot. I also recall hearing his mellifluous voice as the announcer for the G.C. East football team. I still have 8mm films that I took that showcase Don’s athletic prowess during some of our pick up baseball games – hilarious! I will always treasure having known Don. He has left me a lot of great memories for which I will always be thankful. I think I’ll dig out those movies and say hi to an old friend.
