In 1956 I was a kid in the 6th grade at St. Francis Home (for orphan boys) at 2701 Fenkell at Lynwood. I rigged up a crystal set and connected the antenna to my bedsprings, and the ground wire connected to a pipe on the radiator near a 4th floor dormitory window. While the other kids were asleep, I would listen to Jack Surrel on WJLB AM radio.
