Hello, My name is Blake Wilson Jones….My Dad was the road Manager for Gladys Knight in 1967 or 68…I was 14 years old at the time. My Dads name is Floyd A. Jones…His nick name was Buddy. He worked for Motown at the time…His boss was Taylor Fox. He was a great friend of my Dad back in the day.
It was a great time for me at that time. I was behind the stage watching Gladys Knight perform her show at the Michigan state Fairgrounds. I saw many shows growing up. I also delivered the Black chronicle and the Detroit News to her house on 16860 LaSalle Avenue in Detroit. I was a paperboy then at 13 year old. Just wanted to share my Flashback with you all.
Hi Blake, really great to hear your Flashback story about Gladys Knight, Motown and Detroit. Thank you for sharing, you must have so many memories of amazing music performances.
Maybe you are recording your own oral histories from your family about this time period.
If not, and if interested in doing a recorded interview in relation to student research about Detroit/Flint African American prosperity and how it can be heard through music and interviews from these auto factory towns, let me know.
Best wishes

Hi! I was just looking up Buddy to see if I could find more info about his career. I’m Marilyn Jones’ youngest granddaughter. I miss and think of Buddy often. I remember hearing about a Blake at my Bubbie’s house. I love that I found this comment.
