WABX put together this 99x DJ audio collage for their 10th Anniversary concert at Cobo Arena, Thursday, April 28, 1977. During the concert this 99X production piece was played while the WABX Air Aces were all onstage in between acts. Headlining the event that evening were the groups HEART and THE KINKS.

Wow… Hearing the Stooges kick in after Karen Savelly brought back a lot of memories. When I talk about hearing the Stooges, the MC5 and Funkadelic on the radio back in the day, most people don’t believe me- especially if they are not from the Metro-Detroit area and/or were born after about 1980. Radio is only one of the many ways that my generation of Detroit musicians was incredibly privileged while growing up, but it was a big one…
